GM has expanded public charging access by integrating Electrify America fast-charging stations into its myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac mobile apps.
Drivers can now locate, charge, and pay at more than 5,000 Electrify America stations, including 350-kW fast chargers, directly through their vehicle apps.
The integration allows drivers to manage public charging without using multiple third-party applications. Through the public charging section of their myBrand app, users can search supported networks and access charging services while traveling nationwide.
“Working with Electrify America helps simplify public charging for GM drivers,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy, in a Jan. 26 news release.
Expanding Public Charging Access
The Electrify America integration supports GM’s broader effort to connect drivers to public charging infrastructure. GM drivers now have access to more than 250,000 public charging stations across the U.S. and Canada through various supported networks.
“As EV travel increases, access to convenient charging becomes more important,” said Robert Barrosa, CEO and president of Electrify America. “This integration expands charging options for GM drivers nationwide.”
Charging Features Available Through GM Apps
Through the myBrand apps, GM EV drivers can:
• Locate nearby charging stations with real-time availability
• Plan routes and identify charging stops
• Monitor charging session status
• Pay for charging sessions within the app
GM stated that GM Energy will continue working with charging providers to support EV adoption and improve public charging access as its electric vehicle lineup expands.
