Octopus Energy US has launched Octopus Charge, a public electric vehicle charging app that allows U.S. drivers to find and access charging stations through a single platform.

The service brings charger discovery and charging sessions together within one app, reducing the need for drivers to use separate accounts and applications when accessing different public charging networks.

"Driving electric should be simple, wherever the journey leads," said Nick Chaset, CEO of Octopus Energy US. "Drivers shouldn't have to juggle multiple apps and accounts just to charge their cars. By bringing public charging into one experience, Octopus Charge gives drivers another option for accessing public charging."

Building on Europe's Electroverse Platform

Octopus Charge is based on Octopus Energy Group's Electroverse platform, which launched in Europe in 2020.

According to the company, Electroverse provides access to more than 1 million public charging points across more than 40 countries through a single app and account.

Octopus Energy US is applying that model to the U.S. market through Octopus Charge.

"We built Octopus Charge to remove unnecessary friction from the charging experience, helping drivers spend less time managing charging and more time enjoying the drive," said Sebastian Blake, head of product at Octopus Energy US.

The launch expands Octopus Energy US's services beyond residential energy and into public EV charging.
