GM has expanded its Energy Pass charging service with the addition of ChargePoint, giving EV drivers access to additional public charging stations through the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps.

With ChargePoint included in Energy Pass, drivers can access DC fast charging and Level 2 stations across the ChargePoint network. Many ChargePoint stations available through Energy Pass also support Plug & Charge.

Energy Pass allows GM EV drivers to locate, start and pay for charging through the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps. As ChargePoint and additional planned charging network integrations are added, GM said Energy Pass is expected to provide access to approximately 70% of all DC fast chargers in the United States, based on current network expansion plans. The ChargePoint integration also provides access to approximately 60% of U.S. public Level 2 chargers.

GM said the integration is intended to simplify public charging by allowing drivers to access more charging stations through a single platform.

Additional DC Fast-Charging Installations

GM and ChargePoint have also collaborated for more than a year to expand public charging infrastructure in markets where DC fast charging has been limited.

The companies said the collaboration has resulted in hundreds of new charging locations, with additional sites planned. Many of the locations feature ChargePoint's Omniport technology, allowing vehicles with either NACS or CCS1 connectors to use the same charging stall.

Examples include:

• Elmwood Township, Michigan: Four charging stalls were activated near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in a county that previously had no DC fast chargers.
• Redding, California: Sixteen NACS and CCS charging stalls were added along the Sacramento River near the Sundial Bridge.
• Winter Park, Florida: Seven NACS and CCS charging stalls were installed near Orlando-area attractions.
• Upstate New York: Multiple fast-charging sites were added along state highways connecting destinations including Lake Placid, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes and Cooperstown.
