ChargePoint announced Dec. 19 that Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is expanding its electric vehicle charging network by adding ChargePoint chargers, upgrading to the ChargePoint Platform software, and adopting ChargePoint’s Safeguard Care service.
EV Charging Expansion At Loyola Marymount University
LMU said the additions are intended to support increased demand for EV charging on campus and improve oversight of charging operations. The university is upgrading to the ChargePoint Platform, a software system that supports reporting, station monitoring, and operational management.
ChargePoint said the platform is intended to help optimize station uptime while reducing manual inputs required to manage charging infrastructure.
“As EV use increases, it’s important that our charging network remains reliable and data-driven,” said Ian McKeown, campus sustainability officer at Loyola Marymount University.
Software And Service Enhancements
In addition to the software upgrade, LMU is adding ChargePoint’s Safeguard Care service. The service includes regular on-site inspections of ChargePoint charging stations to confirm equipment is operational and to support remote monitoring through the ChargePoint Platform.
ChargePoint said Safeguard Care is intended to help identify and address maintenance issues through physical inspections, complementing software-based monitoring tools.
