Volvo Car USA has announced details for its 2026 all-electric vehicle lineup, including significant upgrades to the flagship EX90 and the arrival of the EX30 Cross Country and EX30 Single Motor variants for U.S. customers.

2026 EX90 Gains New Technology and More Power

The 2026 Volvo EX90 introduces several updates, including a new 800-volt electrical architecture that enables faster and more efficient charging—adding up to 155 miles of range in about 10 minutes at a compatible charging station.

Every 2026 EX90 receives a more powerful dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer capable of 500 TOPS (trillions of operations per second). This system enhances the vehicle’s safety and driver-assist features, adding functions such as connected safety alerts for slippery roads and hazards, expanded automatic emergency steering in darkness, and Emergency Stop Assist with integrated automatic e-call.

Volvo also confirmed that 2025 EX90 owners will receive this computer upgrade at no charge in the coming months.

The EX90 lineup expands for 2026 with new powertrain options. The addition of a Single Motor variant joins the Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance models, with the latter producing 670 horsepower—making it the most powerful Volvo ever built.

The model also adds new options, including an electrochromic panoramic roof with adjustable tint and ventilated Nappa leather upholstery available in Cardamom, Dawn, and Charcoal color choices.

EX30 Single Motor Joins U.S. Lineup

Following the U.S. debut of the 422-horsepower EX30 Twin Motor Performance last year, Volvo is now introducing the EX30 Single Motor variant. Offered in the Plus equipment level, it starts at $38,950 MSRP and extends accessibility within Volvo’s EV portfolio.

The Single Motor version offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 261 miles and can charge from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes. The EX30 remains Volvo’s smallest SUV, designed to minimize its carbon footprint throughout its lifecycle. Its interior incorporates recycled and renewable materials alongside a zero tailpipe emissions powertrain.

The EX30 has already earned multiple awards, including Popular Science’s Best of What’s New 2023, 2024 World Urban Car of the Year, and the Red Dot: Best of the Best Product Design 2024.

EX30 Cross Country Adds Off-Road Capability

Volvo’s EX30 Cross Country variant extends the model’s reach beyond city driving, combining electric efficiency with light off-road capability. It features higher ground clearance, standard all-wheel drive, and available 18-inch all-terrain accessory tires. Charging from 10% to 80% can be completed in about 27 minutes.

Distinctive design cues emphasize its rugged capability, including skid plates, extended wheel arches, and a dark front shield etched with a map of Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. The EX30 Cross Country will be offered exclusively as the Twin Motor Ultra model, starting at $48,150 MSRP.

EX40 Adds Black Edition Styling Option

The 2026 EX40 now offers a Black Edition appearance package, previously available on the XC60 plug-in hybrid. The EX40 becomes the first fully electric Volvo in the U.S. to receive this design treatment.

Available exterior colors include Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Denim Blue. The Black Edition can be configured for either a monochromatic or high-contrast appearance.
