Ford has named Dave Carroll president of Ford Energy, succeeding Lisa Drake as the company works toward delivering battery energy storage solutions.

Drake will remain with Ford through Dec. 31 and work with Carroll on the transition across Ford Energy's manufacturing operations, customer commitments and supplier partnerships.

Carroll brings experience developing, financing and operating energy assets. Ford said his background includes working from the customer side of the energy industry, including understanding the infrastructure requirements of utilities and other energy customers.

"Dave brings a rare, buy-side perspective on what utilities and other customers truly require as they build out power infrastructure – exactly the skill set and insight Ford Energy needs as we move from launch to scale," said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.

"I've spent my career developing, financing and operating energy assets, and I'm excited to join Ford because there's no bigger opportunity in this market than building a category-defining energy business for one of America's most iconic and important companies," Carroll said.

Drake to Leave Ford After 32 Years

Drake will leave Ford following a 32-year career that included leadership roles spanning vehicle programs, electrification, purchasing, operations and battery manufacturing.

She joined Ford in 1994 in powertrain engineering and later worked on vehicle programs including the F-150 and Super Duty.

As chief engineer for global hybrid and battery-electric vehicles, Drake worked on Ford's first generation of electrified vehicles. She later served as vice president of Global Purchasing; chief operating officer, North America; and vice president of Technology Platform Programs and EV Systems.

Her responsibilities included Ford's domestic battery manufacturing operations, battery joint ventures and battery supply chains.

Drake was named the first president of Ford Energy in January 2026, overseeing the business as it moved from its initial development into commercial operations.
