Rivian will increase planned production capacity to 300,000 vehicles annually at its future manufacturing plant in Stanton Springs North, Georgia.
The updated figure represents a 50% increase from the previously planned 200,000 vehicles and is intended to lower per-unit costs while allowing for future expansion.

“R2 expands our market opportunity. The thousands of people who will work in our Georgia plant will support Rivian’s growth as we scale U.S. manufacturing,” said Rivian Founder and CEO RJ Scaringe in an April 30 news release.

Facility Timeline, Funding, and Production Plans
Rivian has worked with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Dominance Financing to update its loan, aimed at supporting manufacturing and construction jobs. The loan totals up to $4.5 billion, including $4,006 million in principal and $494 million in capitalized interest, aligned with the facility’s updated design and development plan.
Vertical construction is expected to begin in 2026, with Rivian anticipating the first loan draw in early 2027. Vehicle production remains on track to start in late 2028.
The company continues to work with local partners near the Stanton Springs site as it prepares for construction. Initial work includes development of the stamping press area, a key component of the facility. Construction activity is expected to increase as primary buildings begin to take shape later in the year.
