IONNA, an EV charging joint venture backed by eight automakers, recently marked its second anniversary with continued growth of its national charging network.
In its first two years, the company has built a network of charging sites across the U.S., with nearly 1,000 charging bays now in service.
Utility Partnerships Drive Network Growth
Utilities have played a key role in deploying IONNA charging locations. The company worked with utilities and organizations such as the Electric Power Research Institute and the Edison Electric Institute to bring high-powered charging stations online in 2025.
Ten utilities supported the launch of multiple sites within one year, while an additional 33 utilities brought individual locations online in their service areas. In 2026, IONNA added 212 charging bays with support from more than 10 utilities, including PG&E, PSE&G, and NV Energy.
IONNA introduced a pricing structure in 2025 that offers base discounts without requiring a subscription. Additional options include charging credits, automaker-linked subscriptions, loyalty rewards, and prepaid charging plans available through partner automakers, including BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota.
New EV Charger Locations
The company reported more than 4,700 charging bays under contract nationwide, with nearly 1,500 under construction or later development stages. More than 100 charging locations are operational.
Recent site openings include locations in Forest Park and West Point, Georgia, and Limon, Colorado. IONNA is also developing a site in Dallas that will include an automated convenience store using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, expected to open in the second quarter.
To mark its anniversary, the company hosted events at more than 25 locations on Feb. 7, during which more than 100 megawatt-hours of electricity were dispensed across the network.
IONNA said new locations opening this year will offer charging at 20 cents per kilowatt-hour during their first week of operation.
