Colorado Springs Utilities in Colorado installed four new Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its facilities. The charging stations are located at three locations and open to the public.
"As a community-owned utility, we are proud to support our customers and employees who are adopting this technology. EVs are an environmentally sound, cost-effective way to power vehicles," said Aram Benyamin, Colorado Springs Utilities CEO, in a blog post. "These chargers will also enable us to expand the use of EVs in our fleet."
Currently, Colorado Spring Utilities' fleet includes eight battery-electric vehicles and 27 hybrids, and the utility continues too evaluate their performance on a number of levels.
"We are working to learn all that we can about this technology and the potential impact of increased electric use on our system as EV adoption continues to increase," explained Benyamin.
The charging stations were funded by a grant from Charge Ahead Colorado.
