  • Lorna McAtear, who is Fleet Manager at the National Grid, has joined the AFP board. She has a longstanding career in the fleet sector including holding roles at E.ON and Royal Mail.

  • Malcolm Maycock from the Licence Bureau and Steve Roper of the Prudential have been added to the Risk, Compliance and Health Committee.

  • Matt Dale of ALD Automotive and Debbie Fox of epyx are now part of the Future Mobility Steering Committee, while Alex Hull of Zenith and Natasha Patel of Baringa have joined the Future Roads Committee.

  • Finally, Russ Boulton of ALD Automotive has become a member of the LCV Committee and Craig Logan of Vodafone is now sitting on the EV, Low Carbon and Alternative Fuels Committee.

Explaining the role of these committees, AFP Chair Paul Hollick - who recently presented at Global Fleet Conference Experience on the state of the UK fleet market, said:

“Since their formation around a year ago, the AFP’s committees have been playing a crucial role in discussing important issues facing fleets and formulating advice and strategy.

“Having high quality professionals involved is an essential part of this process, so we’d like to very much welcome these latest recruits. They all bring an impressive degree of expertise to our organisation and, we are sure, will make very useful contributions to our conversations over the coming months and years.

“I would especially like to warmly welcome Lorna to the AFP board. Her skills, network and knowledge within our industry are superb. She has been a lead player within two AFP committees already and we are delighted that she has agreed to step up.”

The AFP has been playing a crucial role in helping formulate appropriate Government policy for fleets. It has launched the well-received AFP Tax Manifesto, outlining a taxation strategy for company cars, while it is working with the British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA) industry body on best business mileage repayment methods for electric vehicles - the Advisory Electric Rate.

Hollick added: “A key element of the thinking behind the AFP’s formation was the need for an effective and engaged campaigning fleet industry organisation and the tax manifesto is an example of that intention.

“We’ve been having wide-ranging discussions with our members and other interested parties about areas where we believe that the taxation of fleets and mobility needs changing or developing in order to create effective incentives, greater certainty and more fairness.

“The results, which we believe are constructive, realistic and thought-provoking, are contained in Tax Manifesto. We plan to use it as the foundation for our conversations with the Government and HMRC tax authority.”
