Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling approximately 2,031,220 vehicles, which is nearly all of Tesla's vehicle sales in the United States to date.

The recall includes 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with all versions of Autosteer leading up to the version(s) that contains the recall remedy, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

"In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature's controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse of the SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature," the recall notice said.

Tesla will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 10, 2024.

According to Tesla, Autosteer is a hands-on feature and is intended for use on controlled-access highways with a fully attentive driver.

This isn't the first recall of 2023 for Tesla.

In February, the company recalled approximately 362,758 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software or pending installation.

In November, Tesla announced the official start of deliveries for the Cybertruck, first announced in 2019.

The Cybertruck's initial price of $39,900 has increased by more than $20,000 since it was first introduced four years ago.

The least expensive, single-motor RWD model will be available in 2025, according to Tesla.
