The Volkswagen Group reported recently it has delivered 4 million all-electric vehicles globally, marking a milestone in the company’s electrification strategy.
In 2025, the company ranked among the top five battery-electric vehicle manufacturers worldwide and held about 27% of the BEV market share in Europe.
The group’s first all-electric series-production model, the VW e-up!, launched in 2013, followed by the VW e-Golf in 2014. Beginning in 2019, a cross-brand electric vehicle rollout based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform supported increased production. To date, about three million vehicles built on the MEB platform have been delivered.
Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group, said in a news release that reaching 4 million deliveries reflects continued growth in the company’s electric vehicle lineup and global production.
Expanding Electric Vehicle Portfolio
Over the past two years, the Volkswagen Group has introduced about 60 new models across its brands, with about one-third featuring all-electric drivetrains.
The company offers more than 30 all-electric passenger vehicles, ranging from compact cars to luxury SUVs. In addition, the TRATON brands — including Scania, MAN, International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus — produce electric trucks and buses.
In 2026, the group plans to introduce more than 20 additional models, about half of which will be all-electric. These include new electric models for the Chinese market and the electric urban car family in Europe, which will include four entry-level electric vehicles.
Global BEV Production Network
Volkswagen Group manufactures electric vehicles at more than 20 locations worldwide, including facilities in Europe, China, the U.S., and Brazil.
About 77% of the four million BEVs delivered to date were produced in Europe. Production sites include Emden, Zwickau, Hanover, Bratislava, Mlada Boleslav, Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Leipzig, Zuffenhausen, Munich, and Södertälje.
Additional facilities are planned in Pamplona and Martorell to support production of the Electric Urban Car Family. Preparations are also underway for BEV production at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg and at the Bentley plant in Crewe, England.
China accounts for about one-fifth of the company’s BEV production, with manufacturing sites in Anting, Foshan, Hefei, and Changchun.
About 3% of BEVs delivered to date were produced in the United States at the Chattanooga and Tulsa plants. In Brazil, production of electric commercial vehicles recently began at the São Paulo plant.
BEV Deliveries by Region and Brand
About 95% of BEV deliveries have occurred in the company’s core markets of Europe, China, and the U.S.
Europe accounted for 68% of deliveries, followed by China with 20% and the U.S with about 8%. Other markets combined accounted for about 5%.
Most BEV deliveries came from the Brand Group Core, which represents the volume segment and accounts for about 72% of total BEV deliveries. Volkswagen Passenger Cars contributed about two million vehicles, followed by Škoda with 480,000 units, SEAT/CUPRA with 230,000 units, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with 140,000 vehicles.
The Brand Group Progressive accounted for about 22% of BEV deliveries, including about 870,000 Audi vehicles.
About 6% of BEV deliveries came from the Brand Group Sport Luxury, including about 250,000 Porsche vehicles.
The Brand Group Trucks accounted for about 0.3% of BEV deliveries, representing about 11,000 vehicles.
