Epic Charging has acquired Bluedot Technologies, a Palo Alto-based EV fleet charging management and payment platform that provides access to more than 80% of public EV charging ports in the U.S.
The deal closed May 1 and includes Bluedot’s branding, platform technology, intellectual property, customer contracts and key team members. Epic Charging CEO Michael Bakunin is expected to outline the company’s updated vision at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Las Vegas.
Expanding Fleet Charging Access
Founded by CEO Ferhat Babacan and COO Selinay Parlak, Bluedot developed an EV fleet charging and payment platform designed to eliminate the need for multiple charging apps or payment cards across networks. The platform also includes telematics integration, route optimization, fraud prevention tools, and home charging reimbursement tracking.
Bluedot established partnerships with companies and organizations including Rivian, Hertz, Vay and the City of San Francisco. The company participated in Y Combinator in 2023 and secured more than $5 million in funding from investors including Heartfelt, Ford Driventure and others. Babacan and Parlak were also named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list for Manufacturing and Industry in 2024.
Combined Platform Focuses on Fleet Charging Management
Epic said the acquisition combines its charge point management system with Bluedot’s payment access platform to create an end-to-end EV charging solution for fleets.
“We built Bluedot to solve real pain points in EV charging management,” Babacan said. “Joining Epic Charging gives our platform the scale and resources to reach the customers who need it most.”
Epic plans to use the acquisition to accelerate development of Charge OptimAIzer, its AI-powered energy management system that uses fleet data and telematics capabilities from Bluedot. Epic-powered charging networks will also become accessible through the Bluedot app.
“Every charger operator is asking the same question: How do we get more sessions at our sites? Bluedot answers that,” Bakunin said.
Bluedot to Continue as Separate Brand
Bluedot will continue operating as a separate brand under Epic Charging, with team members transitioning to Epic as part of the acquisition. The combined companies said the platform will offer fleet drivers the ability to find, charge, and pay across more than 80% of U.S. charging networks through a single ecosystem.
