Kia EV3 Debuts At New York International Auto Show

Kia unveiled its compact electric SUV, offering up to 320 miles of range, fast-charging capability, and multiple battery and drivetrain options ahead of its late-2026 launch.

Kia introduced the 2027 EV3 at the New York International Auto Show last week, expanding its electric vehicle lineup with a compact SUV positioned below the EV6 and EV9

The EV3 is scheduled to go on sale in late 2026, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

The EV3 will be offered in five trims: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT.

Platform, Range, and Charging

Built on Kia’s 400V Electric Global Modular Platform, the EV3 offers two battery options:

  • 58.3 kWh battery (Light trim) with up to 220 miles of estimated range

  • 81.4 kWh battery (Wind, Land, GT-Line, GT) with up to 320 miles of estimated range (FWD)

The vehicle includes a native NACS charging port and Plug and Charge capability through the Kia Access app.

DC fast charging allows:

  • 10% to 80% charge in about 29 minutes (58.3 kWh battery)

  • 10% to 80% charge in about 31 minutes (81.4 kWh battery)

Powertrain and Performance

The EV3 is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations:

  • Standard models: 350 horsepower (RWD Long Range configuration)

  • AWD models: up to 261 horsepower

  • EV3 GT: 288 horsepower

The EV3 uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. The GT model includes sport-tuned suspension and steering.

  • Drag coefficient of 0.275

  • Active air flap and full underbody cover

  • i-Pedal regenerative braking system with memory function

  • Adaptive regeneration system

Capability and Utility

The EV3 offers:

  • Up to 56.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row

  • 26.1 cubic feet behind the second row

  • 0.9 cubic foot front trunk

  • 60/40 split-folding rear seats

Additional utility features include:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability for powering external devices

  • Available Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality with bidirectional charging

Interior and Technology

The EV3 features a panoramic display with dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate display.

  • Heated and ventilated front seats (available)

The interior includes configurable storage, including an open center console with retractable cupholders and multiple compartments.

The EV3 includes:

Higher trims feature unique design elements, such as GT-specific wheels and styling accents.

Availability

The 2027 Kia EV3 will arrive in late 2026, with reservations and pricing details to be announced closer to the on-sale date.
