The 2026 Kia EV9 has been named Cars.com’s Best Electric Vehicle of 2026, marking the second consecutive year the three-row electric SUV has received the honor.
The award follows the EV9’s recent designation as Cars.com’s Top 3-Row EV Pick.
Cars.com editors evaluated new electric vehicles based on driving range, fast-charging performance, interior space, technology, and overall ownership value. The EV9 was recognized for its combination of three-row seating capacity, long-distance capability, and family-focused design.
“The Kia EV9 stood out because it delivers everything we want from a modern electric SUV — strong real-world range, fast charging, excellent space and comfort, and smart flexibility across the lineup,” said Mike Hanley, senior road test editor at Cars.com, in a Feb. 5 news release.
Range, Charging, and Technology Features
The EV9 offers a standard 76.1-kWh battery, a 160-kW (215-hp) motor, and DC fast-charging capability. Available upgrades include a 99.8-kWh battery option and a dual-motor configuration delivering 283 kW (379 hp) with torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. of torque.
When connected to a 350-kW DC fast charger, the EV9 can charge from 10% to 80% state of charge in under 25 minutes.
Additional features include three-row seating, towing capability, over-the-air vehicle updates, and ultra-wideband-based Digital Key functionality.
