Mercedes-Benz has revealed its all-new CLA, offering both fully electric and hybrid powertrains, a redesigned operating system and major advancements in efficiency and connectivity. As the first model in a new vehicle family, the CLA is positioned to meet evolving fleet demands for range, energy efficiency, driver support and software flexibility.
Electric Powertrain with 800-Volt Architecture
The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology delivers up to 268 hp and a WLTP-estimated range of up to 792 kilometers (492 miles), while the CLA 350 4MATIC offers 349 hp with all-wheel drive and a 0–60 mph time of 4.8 seconds.
Key specs:
85-kWh lithium-ion battery with improved energy density and reduced cobalt
800-volt electrical system
Two-speed transmission for balance between acceleration and highway efficiency
High-Efficiency Design and Thermal Management
The CLA features a new air-to-air heat pump, capable of using drivetrain, battery and ambient heat to reduce cabin heating energy use. Intelligent recuperation of up to 200 kW is supported by a by-wire brake system. The vehicle's drag coefficient starts at 0.21, thanks in part to aerodynamic wheel designs and a closed underbody.
MB.OS and Fourth-Generation MBUX
Debuting with the CLA is Mercedes-Benz’s in-house MB.OS platform. This chip-to-cloud architecture manages infotainment, driver assistance, and vehicle systems, and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The vehicle also introduces the fourth generation of MBUX, integrating AI from Microsoft and Google. Drivers can interact naturally with the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which can manage tasks, answer contextual questions and adjust in-cabin features.
A new Superscreen setup is available, offering up to three connected displays across the dash. The system is powered by high-performance chips and real-time 3D graphics.

Navigation and Charging Integration
MBUX Navigation with Electric Intelligence uses real-time route planning based on elevation, traffic and charging availability. Google Maps integration enables proactive charging station reservations through MB.CHARGE Public, Mercedes-Benz’s digital charging platform.
Bidirectional charging capability is also built-in for future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) or vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications.
Driver Assistance and Safety Systems
The CLA includes up to 10 cameras, 5 radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Standard features include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, while optional packages add Active Lane Change Assist and a 360-degree parking system.
The CLA is also the first vehicle in its class to offer a center airbag. The high-voltage battery system includes multi-stage protection and an early warning system for thermal events.
Modular Platform Supports 48-Volt Hybrids
While EV variants lead the lineup, the CLA platform also supports hybrid powertrains.
Hybrid system highlights:
48-volt system with 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery
8-speed dual-clutch transmission
Regenerative braking up to 25 kW
M252 1.5L four-cylinder engine with Miller-cycle combustion
Available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive

Sustainability and Manufacturing
The CLA reduces lifecycle carbon footprint by 40% versus its predecessor. The Rastatt production plant operates on renewable energy, and materials throughout the CLA use post-consumer and recycled content, including interior thermoplastics and aluminum produced with green electricity.
Dimensions and Packaging
The CLA measures 185.9 inches long with a 109.8-inch wheelbase, offering more headroom and shoulder room than the previous generation. All models include a panoramic roof and feature a 2.5 cu ft frunk in electric versions.
