Lucid Group Inc. made Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available to Lucid Gravity owners in North America through an over-the-air software update released March 12.
The update is included in Lucid UX 3.5. Deployment to Gravity customers in the Middle East and Europe is expected later in March.
Smartphone Integration Through OTA Update
The Lucid UX 3.5 update enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration on the Lucid Gravity’s upper right Clearview Cockpit display.
With Apple CarPlay, iPhone users can access directions, place phone calls, send or respond to text messages, and use music apps through the vehicle’s infotainment system. Both wireless and USB connections are supported, provided the iPhone and software support CarPlay.
Android Auto allows drivers to access Android smartphone apps for navigation, media, and messaging through the same display. Wireless and USB connections are also supported, depending on the mobile device and operating system.
“Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most requested features from our customers,” said Emad Dlala, senior vice president of engineering and software at Lucid, in a news release. “This update allows seamless integration between mobile devices and the Lucid Gravity.”
Vehicle Software Enhancements
Lucid said the update reflects its approach to adding vehicle features and improvements through over-the-air software updates.
After installing Lucid UX 3.5, Gravity drivers can connect compatible smartphones to access navigation, messaging, music apps, and voice assistants such as Siri directly from the vehicle display.
