Chevrolet has expanded its EV portfolio with the reveal of the new roomier, SUV-like electric 2022 Bolt EUV, alongside the redesigned 2022 Bolt EV, which are both cheaper than the previous model year, GM announced Feb. 16.

“The new Bolt EUV is the best of the Bolt EV packaged in an SUV-like vehicle with more technology and features, giving customers more choices and reasons to switch to electric,” said Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet. 

Pricing for both vehicles is less than the 2021 Bolt EV, GM said. The 2022 Bolt EUV is priced from $33,995, and the 2022 Bolt EV starts at $31,995, before any available state, local or utility incentives. Both will be available this summer, and aforementioned pricing includes destination freight charges.

“We’ve lowered Bolt EV’s base price by more than $5,000 from the 2021 model, proving our commitment to make EVs attainable for everyone,” Hill added.

The Bolt EUV is about six inches longer than the standard Bolt EV, and features a roomier interior and three inches of additional rear legroom.

An 65 kilowatt-hour, lithium-ion battery pack helps the Bolt EV deliver up to a GM-estimated 259 miles of range on a full charge, and the Bolt EUV has an estimated range of 250 miles on a full charge.

Standard DC fast public charging capability enables the Bolt EV to add up to 100 miles of range in 30 minutes and 95 miles for the Bolt EUV, the automaker said. A single-motor drive unit delivers 200 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque.

The vehicles also feature Regen on Demand that allows the driver to convert kinetic energy into energy stored within the battery for future use by simply pulling on a steering wheel-mounted paddle.

Chevrolet is also offering a Dual Level Charge Cord as standard with the Bolt EUV, which has a changeable plug that allows users to plug into a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet for Level 1 charging and a 240-volt outlet for Level 2 charging up to 7.2 kilowatts.

The new Dual Level Charge Cord is also available for Bolt EV. For maximum Level 2 charging speed, both vehicles are now capable of 11 kW Level 2 charging, according to the automaker.

Additionally, Chevrolet will cover standard installation of Level 2 charging capability for eligible customers who purchase or lease a 2022 Bolt EUV or Bolt EV, GM said. 

Both vehicles feature new instrument panels, vehicle controls and seats, with a 10.2-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen and integrated climate controls common to both, GM said. The infotainment screen features real-time displays with more details available on the 8-inch-diagonal reconfigurable color gauge cluster.

There’s also a new, electronic gear shift design that uses pull toggles and push buttons to free up more interior space. For increased regenerative braking, there’s even a new one-pedal driving button that keeps the system active between drive cycles, GM said.

The Bolt EUV will also be the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer the Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance system, which can be used on more than 200,000 miles of enabled roads in the U.S. and Canada.

Super Cruise employs many advanced technology features, including a Driver Attention System, which uses a small camera to determine where the driver is looking whenever Super Cruise operates. Super Cruise also employs precision LiDAR map data. Super Cruise is available on Bolt EUV Premier.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on both the Bolt EUV and EV and includes a suite of safety and advanced driver assistance technologies.

With the Chevrolet EV Access package, customers can remotely view their current charging status and battery charge level, customize their charge settings, and set up charge notifications via the myChevrolet Mobile App. The Energy feature within the myChevrolet Mobile App can help plan road trips by locating charging stations — including real-time availability — and start a charge session with participating charging networks.

Additional connectivity technologies offered in the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV include new wireless smartphone connectivity, as well as wireless phone charging standard on Bolt EUV and available on Bolt EV, and an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot.

Meanwhile, GM and EVgo are collaborating to triple the number of fast chargers, adding more than 2,700 chargers around the country by the end of 2025. Chevrolet customers also have location access to more than 80,000 chargers in North America through the Energy feature via the myChevrolet app.

Both vehicles are part of General Motors’ plan to launch 30 new EVs globally by 2025.

Also, a special, limited-production Launch Edition of the Bolt EUV is available, the automaker said, and offers the Super Cruise driver assistance feature, sunroof, unique wheels, special badging and an illuminated charge port for $43,495 (including destination freight charges).
