Leasing has traditionally provided organizations with the flexibility they need regarding business use of vehicles. What new factors must be considered when electric vehicles enter fleets?

This issue will be examined on June 8 when Fleet Forward the Tour returns to Chicago at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center.

The seminar “Understanding the EV Fleet Lease” will examine EV lease structures and how to manage depreciation, how tax incentives from the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other state and local rebates are factored, what are the impacts to cost of ownership (TCO), and how to account for charging and charging infrastructure costs.

Attendees will also understand the new services that fleet management companies (FMCs) are offering to facilitate the process.

The seminar will be presented by Tim Cengel, senior manager, purchasing & electrification for Union Leasing.

“We’re excited to have Tim bring his 20 years of experience in fleet procurement and his vast knowledge of EV products and partners to the table in Chicago,” said Chris Brown, conference chair.

A Regional Networking Event

An offshoot of the Fleet Forward Conference and now in its second year, Fleet Forward Tour stops consists of one-day, regional events in which fleet operators can network with local fleet peers, interact with tabletop exhibits, take in educational programming, drive EVs, and experience other new technologies behind the wheel.

The Tour is free for qualified fleet managers.

“Face-to-face interaction has become a key component of business relationships today,” said Brown. “Tour stops are designed specifically to foster this interaction between fleet managers and to share information not just on EVs, but on any resources that will help organizations manage their fleets and drivers more efficiently and safely.”

Information on more programming and the ride and drive is coming soon.

After Chicago, The Tour will stop in New York/New Jersey on Sept. 13 followed by Dallas on Oct. 3. The Fleet Forward Conference will convene in Santa Clara Nov. 8-10.
