GreenPower Motor Company Inc. announced that its EV Star line is eligible for incentives of up to $130,000 per vehicle through California’s Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP). The HVIP program reopened Dec. 16 with more than $140 million in available incentives.
HVIP Funding And Eligible GreenPower Vehicles
GreenPower said its Class 4 all-electric commercial vehicles eligible for the incentives include the EV Star Passenger Van, EV Star Mobility Plus, EV Star ReeferX, EV Star Cab & Chassis, EV Star Stakebed Truck, and EV Star Utility Truck.
The reopened round of Standard HVIP funding includes more than $140 million for fleets of all sizes. Fleets with 20 or more medium- and heavy-duty vehicles are eligible for base vouchers of $60,000 per Class 4 zero-emission vehicle and may hold up to 20 unredeemed vouchers at a time. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis through dealer-submitted voucher requests.
Small business fleets—defined as private operators with 20 or fewer medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and less than $15 million in annual revenue—remain eligible for vouchers of up to $130,000 per Class 4 zero-emission commercial vehicle. Through the Innovative Small E-Fleet (ISEF) program, $20 million is available and can be used for options such as short-term leases, vehicle rentals, truck-as-a-service models, and bundled offerings that include charging support.
Vehicle Availability And Fleet Preparation
“GreenPower offers a lineup of all-electric vehicles to meet a range of fleet needs, including passenger and cargo configurations,” said Nahui Olin, GreenPower vice president of business development and commercial operations.
GreenPower said passenger models include the EV Star Passenger Van and EV Star Mobility Plus, with multiple seating and ADA configurations. The company also said its commercial cargo and refrigerated vehicles are built on the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform and can be upfitted into configurations such as box trucks, refrigerated units, utility trucks, and stakebed trucks.
GreenPower said fleets seeking vouchers should be prepared to submit required documentation through a dealer, noting funding is typically allocated quickly once program windows open.
