Volvo Cars will unveil the all-electric EX60 on Jan. 21, 2026, and the mid-size SUV will be the first Volvo model to launch with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, enabling natural voice interactions and hands-free control.
Gemini Integration And HuginCore Platform
Volvo said Gemini is designed to help drivers complete tasks through multi-turn conversation without needing to remember specific voice commands, reducing the need to look at the center display.
Drivers will be able to use Gemini to:
Pull information such as a hotel booking address from email
Check whether an item fits in the EX60’s trunk
Brainstorm road trip ideas
The EX60 will also introduce HuginCore, Volvo’s new core system that includes the vehicle’s electrical architecture, core computer, zone controllers, and software. Volvo said the platform supports over-the-air updates to improve vehicle features over time.

“The new EX60 is full of human-centric technology designed to enhance your life behind the wheel,” said Anders Bell, chief engineering and technology officer at Volvo Cars.
Processing Power And Connected Features
Volvo said the EX60’s AI-enabled features require increased onboard computing power. Key components include:
Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies for in-vehicle processing
Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform for continuous connectivity, including four years of complimentary unlimited data
NVIDIA DRIVE platform with DRIVE AGX Orin system-on-a-chip running DriveOS
Volvo said the added computing capability supports a faster user interface, with quicker screen response and improved voice recognition.
Driver Assistance And Ongoing Updates
Volvo said HuginCore supports advanced driver assistance features by processing data from multiple sensors to assess the vehicle’s surroundings in real time.
The company said the EX60’s computing platform is capable of more than 250 trillion operations per second and can draw on experiences from other Volvo vehicles, including accident and near-miss data, to improve performance over time.
Volvo said the EX60 will also receive regular over-the-air updates through its Superset tech stack, and future Gemini updates could allow the assistant to use the vehicle’s cameras to answer questions about the surroundings.
Range And Charging Claims
Volvo said the EX60 can deliver up to:
400 miles of range on a single charge in an all-wheel drive configuration
173 miles of added range in 10 minutes using a 400 kW fast charger
Volvo will reveal the EX60 on Jan. 21, 2026, and the event will be livestreamed.
