The Cartersville Gas System in Georgia hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new headquarters.
The 30,000-square-foot facility includes administrative offices, a conference room, a training room, a welding shop, and a garage, according to city documents. Around the main facility is parking areas for fleet and employee vehicles, trucks, equipment, and trailers. Outside but still on the premises are a fueling station for city vehicles and a 10,500-square-foot storage facility for city equipment.
The warehouse-style garage includes four pull-through equipment parking bays and roll-up overhead doors.
The fuel island includes one fueling station with at least two fuel-dispensing units and two fueling nozzles on each unit and two 12,000-gallon fuel tanks that store unleaded and diesel fuels, according to the original request for proposal. It will provide fuel for all city vehicles, but Cartersville Mayor Matt Santini told the Daily Tribune News that it is primarily used by the local police fleet.
For the past four and a half years, the gas department has worked out of an old firehouse, reports the Daily Tribune News. Construction began in April 2018 and finished March 2019.
