Daviess County, Ky., has amended its administrative code to allow for county mechanics to increase their hourly wage by up to $2.50, the Messenger-Inquirer reported. This was done to help with fleet technician recruitment and retention.

Employees can take technical classes, paid for by the county, for credits and certifications, and their hour rate will increase 50 cents per year for five years to reach the $2.50 maximum.
