Hyundai has announced on Nov. 17 that the 2023 Kona Electric has been named EV of the Year in the 2024 Hispanic Motor Press Awards (HMPA). The recognition marks two consecutive years for the Kona which offers customers electric and internal combustion powertrains, including a sporty N Line version.
The 14th annual awards program recognizes the best vehicles for Hispanic consumers based on advancements in technology, cleaner mobility solutions, safety features, infotainment, styling, driving satisfaction, and value.
"The Kona Electric stands out with its superior efficiency, cutting-edge technologies, distinctive design, and comprehensive safety features. We are thrilled to receive the prestigious HMPA, furthering our mission to make electrification more accessible, convenient, and a dynamic experience to drive," said Olabisi Boyle, vice president, of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai, in a recent news release.
“At HMPA, we strive to educate and promote the adoption of clean and safe transportation for the well-being of Latino families,” said Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, founder and president of the Hispanic Motor Press Foundation. "Hyundai's leadership in electrification and sustainable mobility is evident in its product mix and exemplified by the Kona, awarded City Car last year and now clinching the prestigious EV of the Year title thanks to Its winning combination of technology and attributes that resonate with Hispanic car buyers.”
