The Bollinger B4, with a GVWR of 15,500 pounds, will be available later this year and the company said it qualifies for up to a $40,000 federal tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Only 16 models are now eligible for a full or partial tax credit, which will factor into the vehicle choices for private- and public-sector fleets as well as the vast American retail vehicle market.
The new-generation model will be offered in four variants: all-electric, hybrid electric, internal combustion engine, and sporty N Line.
The Inflation Reduction Act changes the availability of electric vehicle tax credits to only those assembled in North America. Several popular EVs — Hyudai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BMW — i4 aren't eligible.
The credit for zero-emission heavy-duty trucks and buses over 14,000 lbs. would equal 10% of the sales price. The credit would be a boon to buyers of electric trucks from new manufacturers.
