Ford Smart Mobility subsidiary Autonomic has announced a strategic partnership with Ayro, Inc. — a designer and manufacturer of electric light-duty vehicles.

Based in Texas and founded in 2017, Ayro creates compact electric vehicles for urban and short-haul markets. Autonomic is best known for its Transportation Mobility Cloud, which works as a platform for vehicle connectedness.

Through the partnership, the two companies will be able to integrate fleet telematics software that enables transportation businesses to operate fleets of compact, low-speed EVs more efficiently.

Ayro is looking to supply its electric vehicles to business and fleet operators and will soon be launching the AYRO 311x, the company reported. This new vehicle has a range of 85 miles, can recharge with either a 240-volt outlets in up to 3.5 hours or a standard 110-volt outlet in up to eight hours.

The vehicle can be managed through Autonomic’s TMC platform. Ayro will use the software to mange vehicle usage for businesses.

This news comes after Autonomic’s partnership with Amazon Web Service to expand the availability of cloud connectivity services for transportation services.
